Abstract

The paper aims to investigate organizational staff retention among employees in the private sector. The purpose of the study is to identify the factors that have been shown to influence the organizational commitment of Hungarian employees in the private sector. In addition to researchers, the study may also provide useful findings for practitioners who face the challenge of effectively retaining their organisations’ workforce. The research was conducted with a sample of 479 employees and data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 24. The results of the One-Way ANOVA indicate that generational characteristics of employees, employer’s sectoral classification, organizational size, and employees’ managerial position and type of job have a significant effect on commitment to the organization. The results suggest that organizational staff retention measures may need to be differentiated according to the characteristics of each employee group.
