Aim and Scope

Journal of Region, Economy and Society (Tér–Gazdaság–Ember) is an interdisciplinary academic journal focusing on the economic, business and social dimensions of regional development and socio-economic transformation. The journal aims to advance scholarly understanding of how spatial and regional contexts shape economic activity, business dynamics and societal change.

The conceptual framework of the journal is built around the Region–Economy–Society nexus, which views regions not only as geographical entities but also as business and innovation environments where firms, institutions and social actors interact. Within this framework, the journal examines how regional economic structures, entrepreneurial ecosystems and institutional settings influence business performance, innovation processes and broader socio-economic development.

The journal publishes empirical and theoretical research exploring the interactions between business, innovation and socio-economic transformation in regional contexts. Particular attention is given to the ways in which technological change, digital transformation and sustainability transitions reshape regional economies and societies.

Key research areas include regional business and entrepreneurial ecosystems, innovation and digital transformation, sustainable business and consumption, and regional development and governance. The journal welcomes contributions from the fields of business and management, economics, regional science and related social science disciplines.

While the journal has an international scope, it particularly encourages research addressing the socio-economic transformation of European regions, as well as comparative studies involving other regions of the world.

The journal aims to contribute to international academic debate on regional economic transformation and business dynamics in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven global economy.
