About the Journal

Tér – Gazdaság – Ember / Journal of Region, Economy and Society is the academic journal of Széchenyi István University. Established in 2012, the journal has been published continuously since 2013.

The journal provides a scholarly platform for analyzing the interactions between regional environments, economic activity, business dynamics and societal change. Building on the conceptual framework of the Region–Economy–Society nexus, the journal explores how regional contexts shape economic structures, entrepreneurial ecosystems, innovation processes and socio-economic development.

The journal publishes peer-reviewed academic research at the intersection of business and management, economics, regional studies and related social science disciplines. Particular attention is given to the role of innovation, digital transformation, sustainability transitions and entrepreneurial ecosystems in shaping regional economies and societies.

Between 2013 and 2024, the journal was published quarterly. From 2025 onward, it is issued twice a year, in June and December. The journal follows a continuous publication model, making peer-reviewed and accepted articles available online in “Article in Press” format prior to the release of the full issue.

Since 2026, the journal has published articles in English, reflecting its commitment to strengthening international academic dialogue and increasing the global visibility of research on regional economic and societal transformation.

The journal particularly encourages contributions addressing the socio-economic transformation of European regions, while also welcoming comparative research involving other regions of the world.

Since its foundation, the editorial board has been led by several esteemed scholars who have ensured the journal’s academic quality and professional credibility.

The founding editor-in-chief, Dr. Ferenc Somogyi, associate professor, led the journal between 2012 and 2016, establishing its interdisciplinary vision and scholarly foundations. He was succeeded in 2017 by Prof. Dr. Tamás Dusek, university professor, who further strengthened the journal's scientific reputation. From 2018 to 2024, the role of editor-in-chief was held by Dr. habil. Adrienn Reisinger, associate professor, who focused on fostering interdisciplinary research. The work of these previous editors has significantly contributed to the journal becoming an important forum for the scholarly examination of regional economic and social processes.

The journal aims to contribute to international academic debate on regional economic transformation and business dynamics in an increasingly interconnected and technology-driven global economy.
