Abstract

Theme and fun parks have become integral components of the global tourism industry, serving as major attractions that drive both domestic and international travel. A comprehensive approach systemizing researches, relevant for the words theme / fun parks and tourism from the Scopus database shows how these parks have changed from basic entertainment spots to complex, immersive experiences that combine storytelling, technology, and themed environments. The paper also explores the various ways these parks benefit local economies, such as by creating jobs, boosting tourism revenue, and supporting regional growth. The issues related to role of theme and fun parks in tourism, examining primarily their economic, social, and cultural impacts are also tackled. Furthermore, the paper signalizes the need to explore more the challenges and sustainability concerns that the growth of these parks entails, such as environmental impacts, over-tourism and resource management.

The originality of the paper is based on the lack of similar systematic researches and the identification of less researched relevant topics. The review concludes with a reflection on future trends in the theme park industry, including the increasing use of technology, the slowly growing emphasis on sustainability all in order to facilitate the expansion on tourism markets.
