Abstract

The economic and social significance of women's presence in corporate management and the entrepreneurial sector is receiving increasing attention worldwide, not only in terms of promoting equal opportunities, but also in terms of competitiveness and sustainable growth. Gender balance in decision-making positions can positively impact innovation, corporate performance, and social capital. At the same time, different cultures interpret and treat the economic role of women differently, and there are significant regional differences in the intensity and opportunities for women's business activity. Based on a review of the literature, the study examines the economic value of women's presence in business and the social, institutional, and cultural factors that hinder its development. It focuses on the situation in Hungary, where, although women's economic activity has increased in recent years, their share in management positions remains low. The aim of the research is to reveal the structural and cultural barriers to women's economic participation and to contribute to the development of an economic policy discourse that promotes gender equality in the Hungarian business sector.
